Education, The Golden Key to a Better Future

Education, The Golden Key to a Better Future

In many parts of the world, access to education determines a child’s life path. While some children grow up with technology and modern opportunities, many others are deprived of these resources.

The Solidarity Committee Afghanistan Netherlands (SCAN) believes that the challenges of Afghanistan can only be addressed through the education of the country’s future builders: today’s children are tomorrow’s leaders.

When a child has the chance to go to school and access modern technological education, they will undoubtedly create a better future for themselves. A better future for the child also means a better future for Afghanistan.

Herat, the ancient jewel of Central Asia, has always been renowned as a center of science, culture, and art in the Islamic world. The city was not only home to great scholars, mystics, and jurists, but also a place where religious sciences, philosophy, literature, and fine arts flourished.

Throughout different historical periods, especially during the Timurid era, Herat became known as the “City of Culture and Art,” with numerous universities, religious schools, and libraries. Great scholars and poets such as Mawlana Abdul Rahman Jami and Sayyid Ismail Jalali lived in Herat and produced their works there.

Handicrafts, magnificent architecture, Quranic calligraphy, and miniature painting also flourished in the city. For this reason, Herat is not only recognized as a center of knowledge, but also as a symbol of cultural and civilizational splendor in Central Asia, and it has the potential to become a hub of science and culture once again.

After approximately three years of research and consultation, and a ten-month testing period, the family of the Solidarity Committee Afghanistan Netherlands (SCAN) is proud to launch the major project “Education – The Golden Key to a Better Future” in Herat.

The project provides transparent, sustainable, and effective access to education for all, a unique educational initiative in Afghanistan, supported by a committed family from Hamburg. Around 30 family members have not only invested financially but are actively participating in the project.

Project Objective:
To create real opportunities for children from low-income families, going beyond just attending school. Daily supplementary classes include:

  • English language
  • IT skills such as programming and web design
  • Creative skills such as video editing and animation
  • Working with software such as Photoshop
  • Accounting and digital skills

Classes are held daily after school (1–2 hours), and safe transport for children is provided.

Transparent and Smart System:
A comprehensive digital system tracks each child individually:

  • Personal account for every child
  • Recording of grades, attendance, and progress
  • Graphs of tests and improvements
  • Online access for donors
  • Targeted support for each child

You will see exactly how your support makes an impact. Motivation and rewards for high-performing children include:
